The greatest movie threats and insults

I was just reminded of these fantastic compilation clips.  (Warning: be prepared for strong language!)

From these clips, it seems that the best threats and insults revolve around mothers, defecation, broken spines, broken bones, broken necks, broken mothers, defecating mothers, defecating in spines, defecating on broken bones of broken mothers... You get the drift.

Or as Monty Python says: "Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time."

I missed my calling. Is it too late for me to be a scriptwriter who specialises only in threats and insults?

I love a good film trailer

The new trailer for David Fincher's film version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is pretty great; the editing is sharp, it doesn't give much away in terms of plot and it creates a compellingly dark mood.  But mostly I love the music -- it's Trent Reznor and Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs covering Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song".

My favourite Cannes 2011 looks

I love the red carpet at Cannes. It's so full of DRAMA compared to other big events like the Oscars. Big, bold looks work well here, especially for the film premieres. And for the photocalls: fresh, simple looks are the go.

My far and away favourite is Zoe Saldana, closely followed by Uma Thurman in her electric blue number. And I love seeing the return of Kirsten Dunst. In a sea of over-styled starlets, it's nice to see someone willing to take a bit more of a risk here and there.

Zoe Saldana in Armani Prive
Uma Thurman in Armani Prive
Uma Thurman in Versace
Kirsten Dunst in Chloe
Angelina Jolie in Ferragamo
Penelope Cruz in Stella McCartney
Tilda Swinton in Haider Ackermann
Kirsten Dunst in Chanel
Mia Wasakowska in Roland Mouret
